Job Position: CAD Designer

Location: Sharon, WI 53585

Pay Rate: $35.00/hr

Shift: 1st shift, Mon-Fri, 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Description:

We are immediately hiring an experienced, detail-oriented CAD Designer to join our engineering and production team. In this role, you will be responsible for driving projects from conceptual models to manufacturing-ready 2D layouts and CAM nesting configurations.

The ideal candidate possesses deep expertise in parametric 3D modeling-specifically utilizing Autodesk Inventor and is highly skilled at preparing geometry for automated production. You will bridge the gap between engineering design and physical manufacturing by creating smart, adaptive models, manipulating 2D geometry for CAM layouts, and ensuring high efficiency on the production floor.

CAD Designer Duties and Responsibilities

  • 3D Parametric Modeling: Develop robust 3D models and large assemblies using Autodesk Inventor, prioritizing table- and spreadsheet-driven part logic for maximum design flexibility.
  • Production Drawing & Detailing: Generate crystal-clear, fully detailed 2D production prints, fabrication drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Data Translation & Repair: Import complex geometries from various external CAD formats, diagnosing and repairing broken surfaces or unconstrained data to make them usable.
  • CAM Layout Preparation: Manipulate 2D surfaces and extract clean DXF files using Autodesk 2D software to optimize layouts for CAM processing.
  • Manufacturing Integration: Interface directly with our computer-aided manufacturing workflows, utilizing OmniWin (or similar nesting systems) to ensure seamless transfer from CAD to the shop floor.
  • Design Validation (Plus): Perform fundamental Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to validate part strength and structural integrity where required.

CAD Designer Qualifications and Requirements

  • Experience: 3+ years of professional experience in an industrial manufacturing or heavy fabrication CAD environment.
  • Software Mastery: Strong proficiency in Autodesk Inventor (preferred) or equivalent 3D parametric software, alongside standard 2D Autodesk tools.
  • Advanced Modeling Skills: Proven experience creating spreadsheet-driven or table-driven smart parts and configurations.
  • CAM Literacy: Hands-on experience with DXF manipulation for profile cutting or nesting software (OmniWin experience is a massive plus).
  • Schedule Flexibility: Able to work a reliable 40-hour base week with the flexibility to scale up to 50 hours with overtime as production demands require.
